the showies are getting smaller and smaller by the year.As a games day enthusiast I look forward to this day every year.Nairn council need to wake up and realise they killing this Nairn institution with there greed.I urge you to write to your local councillors and demand action before Nairn games day becomes just a memory and the visitors dwindle to zero

One hundred signatures is actually kind of wild to see on the screen while I am sitting here drinking cold coffee and thinking about how empty the field looked last year. I keep refreshing the page because it feels like a glitch but it is definitely real and honestly it gives me a lot of hope that we might actually get someone at the council to listen for once.

Without the shows the Nairn games would just not be the same! Families come from far and wide for this day and I have to say it's probably more because of the shows. It brings people to Nairn and puts money back in to the local community!! Bars, shops etc....

Custodians of the CommonGood fund, please immediately engage in a commercial dialogue with the Showies. Establish what can be done, and act on findings to the benefit of all parties involved. Nairn businesses depend on tourists and visitors.

Absolutly disgusted that the highland council are trying to ruin nairn's biggest attraction. Lets face it no showies, means no tourists which mean no more nairn. Keep the showies coming and give our children our the chance to make the memories we got the chance to make

I think its bang out of order how much the council charging the showies its well over 3x what it use to be and the same for locals who want to pitch up for the day why can't it go back to the old price then we get more showies and stalls and it would definitely bring more ppl to highland games

I cant believe the council has the hard neck to charge them rates for the fortnight they are here. The land lies empty from one end of the year till the showies come the following year.

Come on Nairn Councilors get your act together and fight to save a great Nairn tradition. Waive the ground rents and encourage the showies to come and stay longer generating income for the showies who will spend money in our shops as will visitors.

Lets keep this tradition going - money isn't everything, surely the council can ease off on this one!
