Here in America, little is taught on the cultures of people other than us. How people act on the other side of the world and their traditions aren't known to us because it isn't seen as something that is important. Because of this, people often laugh at other's cultures and do not respect them.

Religions such as Islam get a bad reputation because we aren't taught what Muslims are truly like. We only see what is on the news. Things like another terrorist attack caused by "Muslims". If we were to understand other people's religions and morals better, these false accusations of religious and ethnic groups wouldn't be so easily believed. That's why we say schools should teach on a more golbal scale. With the world becoming so much more connected this is vital.

kids today are so sheltered it drives me crazy. we act like the whole world starts and ends in our own backyard and then wonder why there is so much hate everywhere. teach them something real for once.

Mark Twain once said, "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime."
