The district has officially adopted the new recess policy to ensure all students receive daily outdoor time. I am grateful for the collective commitment that helped secure this mandate for our schools. We will observe the implementation process closely to ensure the guidelines remain in place for the future.

My daughter will be starting kindergarten in the fall, and I'm very disappointed to hear that there is a chance that she might not get recess time. I feel that it is utmost importance for small children to get to go outside, play, get out their energy, and get some fresh air and sunshine. Even if it's a shirt time, the physical activity will only help students focus in their educational endeavors while inside.
I see the smiles on the faces of the kids when I volunteer for recess. Priceless.
they will learn and act better if they have recess. it's a win for the teachers and the children!
Social development, one of the objectives of publiceducation, requires unstructured time with peers. Please bring back recess!
Kids should have at least 2 times of OUTDOOR recess a day! Their performance and concentration will be so much better afterwards.

These kids are doing non-stop work all day to keep up with the NYS standards. They are full of energy and have trouble focusing that much. We already spend 6 months of the years indoors due to weather, they need to get some of that energy out. It would be even better to move it to early in the day.
