Currently at QA students have the opportunity to study
design through the strands of electronics, robotics, wood design and digital
design. These subjects allow students to develop a number of skills and
knowledge of the design cycle. But they are traditionally ‘boy’ orientated
subjects. Qatar Academy has a student population of approximately 50% boys and
50% girls.

Help introduce Textiles to QA.
So what is Textiles?
Textiles is the study of fabrics and design. It can include making
products such as pillows, soft toys and t-shirts. In Textiles you will learn
how to sew using a needle and thread and a sewing machine. You will also learn
how to make a simple pattern, cut out fabric and create intricate and
interesting products.
Many schools around the globe are currently running Textiles
programs and students are enthusiastic about learning and creating different
products.
“Textiles is my favorite subject. I love making different
kinds of products and learning new skills”

for the rest of my life.”

I like the idea, and it would be a great addition to our technology curriculum. It lets us show our creativity and skill in another area.
