Recently, The Rosenblatt's (Debbie, Marc, Natalie, Ben, Owen and Louie) were informed by the City of Huntington Woods they would no longer be allowed to keep their trampoline as it was in violation of the City's code. According to City guidelines, our home in Huntington Woods is positioned on our lot in such a way that our back yard is only 5 feet deep. Therefore, we have always used what is technically our front yard, but is in practice our side yard, for our outdoor activities. According to the City Code, no Accessory Structure (like a trampoline) is allowed anywhere but a back yard. Although we understand the code and fully support the City's need to enforce their rules, we believe having no backyard is truly a hardship to us. There is nowhere else on our lot to put a trampoline, or any other sort of kid-friendly activity for that matter. All we ask is to be allowed to use our property! Our kids, along with countless neighborhood children, can be seen bouncing and enjoying themselves almost every day. It would be unfortunate if this fun was taken away. Please help in our attempt to gain a variance from the City's Zone Board of Appeals by signing this petition. Our hope is to get enough community support to convince the City to allow us to keep our trampoline. Of course, we want as many City of Huntington Woods residents to sign but will gladly accept signatures from people outside the neighborhood. The more the merrier!
