The district finally opened the gates to our local fields and parks for our kids. My heart is full knowing that our neighborhood teams can practice right here at home instead of driving across county lines. We won this change together and now we just need to enjoy watching them …

I live, work, or worship within the boundaries of Lancaster County, SC schools. I spend dollars that fund local schools, parks, and businesses.

I fully support the decision to allow locally based groups and organizations access to government funded parks and school facilities for the use of activities that enhance the mind, body, and spirit of the youth participant.

Prohibiting access or denying use of these community facilities is failing our youth; creating an exodus of local sports talent, dollars, and residency to outlying areas. I support Open Community Use of tracks, fields, courts, playgrounds, or other outdoor facilities before and after school hours

We can do better, we should do better. We owe it to our kids to let them play!

Seeing one hundred people put their names behind this effort confirms that I am not the only one frustrated by these locked gates. Our community deserves better access to these spaces so our kids can finally get back to the sports they love.

Watching the signature count climb reminds me of how many families in Lancaster County are feeling the exact same frustration I am about our locked gates. If you want to see our kids back on these fields, please post the link on your personal page right now to help us clear the next hurdle.

Watching the count rise reminds me why I started this for my own kids who deserve better than locked gates after the bell rings. Please send this link to a few neighbors right now so we can hit our goal and prove to the district that our community expects these facilities to be open.

As a resident of Indian land and a parent I want my son to be able to play sports in the area he lives in

I totally agree our kids deserve better. There is only so much for our kids to do in our county. Why are we making it difficult for our kids and coaches to go out and do something good for themselves and our community?! We should be doing everything we can to get these kids out on the ball fields and away from social media and video games. We need more parks/fields for our community! We can do better for sure!

I have volunteered numerous times for the rec department. I have had enough politics that surround the department. It is shame that a petition needs to be signed for kids to get better. The superintendent should also be ashamed that a petition has to be signed for kids to get better on a state of the art complex that is being used by an organization that sacrifices there time to get these kids better. Kids should be able to play and practice like any other kid in the school district. For a lot of kids football and extracurricular activities like football is an outlet for the young generation to express there love for the sport a lot of kids young kids use the recreational organization to prepare for the next level like high school and college it’s ashamed that kids aren’t allowed to play the sport they love do to the school programs denying them access to train

These are taxpayer funded facilities our kids should have access to them. Whatever issues existed with LCPR and LCSD in the past are irrelevant. Lancaster County institutions fail to realize that this isn't 2001 anymore. Leadership at LCPR and LCSD both need to be replaced with people that have a goal seeing our kids thrive here instead of playing over the state line or private clubs.

There are field rental fees outlined in the annual budget and every local resident and/or organization should have the right to rent them. County officials should not have the right to deny an available public space.
