In November of 2014 a 90-year old U.S. war veteran who resides in Fort Lauderdale, was arrested twice in one week for an act that most would consider an act of humanity. He was detained for feeding the homeless in a public park. Apparently, not only is it illegal to feed the homeless in public in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, but the public food ban has been tried or enforced in more than 71 cities across the nation. This public food ban is an inappropriate injustice against the people who are trying to help and the ones they are trying to help. The Obama Administration should address this issue by allowing our goal of uniformed and organized public distribution of food to the homeless. If there is no organization of distribution whatsoever, detainment can be and should be enforced. These homeless citizens often depend upon others who are willingly able to distribute food publicly daily and therefore the issue should be looked into.
