What: A Bien Tot & Kid Spot Drop-In Center is seeking credentials to become an official learning center.
Our mission: The mission of our center is to provide a structured, fun and learning environment, each hour filled with enrichment activities for each child, ages 12 months to 12 years old.
As it stands: There's nothing wrong with the regular daycare model; however, we are looking to go beyond that to make our programs more credible. We want certified teachers developing our curriculum (versus daycare center teachers) so that we can use their expertise to develop curriculum and lessons, designed and executed in alignment with Denver's public and private school's curriculum and lessons.
What we need to do: In order to officially do this, we must go before a judge to show that we are going to comply with academic standards. Our center will have activities designed by certified teachers who will create a curriculum that is fun and engaging. All of our centers' participants will have the opportunity to learn Spanish through yoga, art, reading, music time, play and in the late hours, movies. No matter what their understanding of Spanish is, we are looking to create a bi-lingual program for our children 80% of the time.
Why we are seeking signatures: Another aspect of our mission is to bring together our children through community involvement. We want to hear your opinions and want your involvement.
The local board thought they could brush us off but this surge of support proves they cannot ignore us anymore. We are building real momentum to force the hand of these bureaucrats and get our learning center the credentials it deserves.

This would be amazing for the neighborhood. My kids are bored all summer and an actual learning program would be a total game changer for us.

Bilingual kids are the future. So glad someone is finally putting effort into curriculum like this in Highland.
