PETITION FOR THE SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO DISTRICT COURT TO CONSIDER ORDERING DEFENDANT CHRISTOPHER T. LAVONE TO TREATMENT INSTEAD OF INCARCERATION Christopher T. LaVone has been suffering severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) ever since his combat tour in Iraq from 1990-1991. He has asked various Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers (VAMC) if he could attend the available in-patient residential PTSD program, and has never been taken seriously. To this day, Chris has been continuously denied the treatment that he seriously needs. Since Chris has been involved in the tragic PTSD/Alcohol related car accident that caused the death of another person, he has realized that masking his PTSD is not going to solve the problem. As fellow Veterans, Sons, Daughters, Husbands, Wives, Brothers, and Sisters of Veterans, and Citizens that support Veterans, please consider ordering this Veteran to treatment at a VAMC in-patient residential PTSD program instead of incarceration. It is has been well documented that incarceration makes a Veteran\'s PTSD worse. Please give this Veteran a chance to rehabilitate. Only sign this petition if you agree with it\'s content! The current level of public interest has prompted our legal team to draft a formal request for the District Court to review these alternative treatment options. We are now coordinating with local veterans advocacy groups to ensure this documentation is submitted directly to the presiding judge.

He served our country and came back broken. Prison is just gonna make him worse. Send him to the VA programs like he asked for years ago.
Heartbreaking situation. The VA completely failed this man and now he needs actual medical help not a cell.
This is so sad. He reached out and the system turned their back on him. Give him a chance to get clean and get the help he really needs.
PTSD is real and the system ignores these guys until its way too late. Give him rehab.
Jail does nothing for vets with ptsd. we need to stop throwing them away.
