We respectfully request that the County construct wide road shoulders (or ideally a multimodal trail) in the public right of way of Lake Louise Road. Additional shoulders should also be constructed in the public right of way of Lake Whatcom Boulevard. Significant safety concerns are being created by the increasing number of bicyclists, e-bike users, commuters, mountain bikers and pedestrians along these roadways. Due to the high number of blind turns and hills, motor vehicles have very limited opportunities to safely pass them.

The volume of support has reached a level that allows me to formally request a meeting with the Department of Public Works. Counsel is currently drafting the official notification letter to County Executive Sidhu to ensure our safety concerns are officially on the record.

Having been yelled at by impatient SUV drivers and (almost) purposefully run off the road a few times while riding my bike to and from town along Lake Louse Road and Lake Whatcom Boulevard I fully support adding bike lanes along at least one if not both of these roads.
It would be incredible to have bike access from Sudden Valley to Geneva without having to use the very dangerous roadway. This would support the growing mtn bike scene at Galbraith/Lookout mountain and allow family friendly recreation between the two neighborhoods.
Lake Louise Road is dangerously narrow for all users in the best of conditions, especially given that posted speed limits are rarely observed. Bike lanes, widening shoulders, and/or dedicated bike paths should all be considered, as should speeding enforcement. Please don’t wait for casualty rates to increase before taking action.
I would really benefit from being able to e-bike from downtown to tumbling water drive. Would make a big difference in multimodal access to mine and my parents home!
As a cyclist who frequently rides this road in both directions I find that is it is incredibly dangerous for both cyclists and drivers. The cars are always speeding and pass recklessly. A bike lane and slower speed limit needs to be posted and enforced.

I live in sudden valley and would love to partake in thinning out traffic by commuting to work in downtown Bellingham by riding my bicycle, especially in the busy summer months. However, I do not feel like it would be a safe commute riding from my house in Gate 5 along Lake Louise considering there is zero shoulder and hardly any safe passing zones for vehicles to pass. Bicycle commuting is so important, and to me it is also so very fun and a wonderful way to stay in shape, and immerse into the community. I would love to see the Lake Louise road expanded for safe vehicle and bicycle commuters alike to cut down on emissions, traffic, and encourage neighborhood wellbeing and happiness.

I live on Lake Louise Rd with 2 elementary aged children who could easily bike to school at Geneva, but it is currently unsafe to do so. Bike lanes (or even wide shoulders) would greatly improve accessibility.
