I live in sudden valley and would love to partake in thinning out traffic by commuting to work in downtown Bellingham by riding my bicycle, especially in the busy summer months. However, I do not feel like it would be a safe commute riding from my house in Gate 5 along Lake Louise considering there is zero shoulder and hardly any safe passing zones for vehicles to pass. Bicycle commuting is so important, and to me it is also so very fun and a wonderful way to stay in shape, and immerse into the community. I would love to see the Lake Louise road expanded for safe vehicle and bicycle commuters alike to cut down on emissions, traffic, and encourage neighborhood wellbeing and happiness.

The lack of bike lanes on Lake Louise and Lake Whatcom Blvd, is a public safety hazard for both drivers and riders. Your efforts to develop safer roadways is appreciated.

I live in SV and work in downtown Bellingham, and I would commute by bike much more if there was a bike path. Thanks!

Sudden Valley’s isolation has always been its Achilles heal. Making it more bike commuter friendly would be a step in the right direction.

I agree with this petition. As a cyclist that commutes on Lake Louise Rd, there are so many close calls. You cannot ride fast enough to keep with the traffic and I feel like it will only be a matter of time before a major injury or fatality happens on this road.

It would also be nice to create a bike trail through the woods all the way to Bellingham. To keep bikes off the road. A commuter friendly option. And family friendly option.
