We the undersigned, wish to reiterate what both the City Council and Planning Commission heard loud and clear from the community and unanimously approved over a year ago:

Complete a safe access path to the fire road that connects Top of the World with Moulton Meadows. To access the start of this public paved fire road at the south end of the Top of the World community, hikers, bikers and school kids and families must traverse a long, steep dirt trail that is rutted, slippery and treacherous.

Because a private gate blocks access to this fire road---which is the only escape route off the Top of the World hilltop in times of emergencies, such as wild fires and other catastrophes--this dirt path is the only access point and it is critical to make it passable and safe at all times.

For the last several decades, Laguna Beach residents have tried all avenues to convince the City to make the necessary improvements before someone gets hurt or there’s a larger crisis. Please fix this short access trail immediately.

The path remains just as treacherous as the day we started this struggle. We are nearing the hundred signature mark and I need you to push this link to your neighbors so we finally catch the attention of those ignoring us.

Path needs fixing. My husband fell trying to bike through. And he was bicycling slowly and carefully not zipping through. It's so difficult. We live in ABH and it would be great to have better access.

This trail is dangerous! Children, moms with strollers, bikers, etc...deserve safe access to and from ABH and TOW. Parents are looking forward to the day they can walk their small children to school rather than drive up and down two hills. Please get this project done!

It's important for our community to be safe and accessible for everyone of all ages and types. When we had our baby 3 years ago, we couldn't connect with our TOW new parent friends because the stroller wouldn't go through the path. Exercise and connection is important for new parents.

I thought that this was already approved. I was at the three hour planning meeting last year. John Petig advised the planning commissioners that they needed to approve the trail easement so they could get the funding! What happened? Why are we going backwards with this

As Director of the Laguna Beach Interscholastic Mountain Bike Team, I've witnessed firsthand just how treacherous it is to expect kids with bikes to traverse this access trail. In short, it's a joke right now.

BTW, City Watchdogs: Every time one of the Sommet du Monde neighbors waters it floods the trail, which is one reason it is becoming so rutted and becomes very muddy in the dry months. Please ask the LB Water District to look into this.

All residents of Top of the world neighborhood should have access to the fire road. We certainly needed it during the fires of 93 and we will need it again someday!

As a senior citizen, Need a safer trail, and I love walking that route.
