The new Unattended Parking rule was based on the airport manager's belief that it was mandated by the FAA AC150/5300-13A. We now believe that It is not and that therefore there is no mandate from any insurance company either. Until now there has been a common-sense parking rule of 12 hours maximum outside our hangars, as per the 1997 KWVI airport regulations. By signing this petition we are asking for the abolishment of the new rule and to revert to that 12 hour rule from 1997.
We hope that you will allow your name to appear on the online signature list as names on petitions make them very much stronger. Think of this as an exercise of your
First Amendment right "to petition the Government for a redress of
grievances". You pay for the use of your hangar and you have the right to
be heard. However, if you prefer to remain anonymous, you can
uncheck the box beneath the comments section of the petition and please be assured that your name is not going anywhere – we don't get those names, just a yes vote. You still get asked for name and email - but it's only so the system can make sure nobody votes twice and your name and email address goes no further.
We still do need your vote though, whether anonymous or not. The total of number votes is what we're looking for - a count of how many people would like this rule abolished or reverted to the old, much more reasonable rule.
Many thanks for your vote.
The Unattended Parking issue might seem quite a small thing, but what makes it so significant is that it is unwarranted, non-mandated and should never have been instigated. It is evidence of the exact sort of autocratic oversight that is the arch enemy of small airports like kwvi. If you google "violation bail airport", the only small airport you'll find is KWVI. That tells you all you need to know.
