Woodrow "Buck" Williams has served the Geneva Municipal Airport (33J) and the general aviation community tirelessly since 1967. For more than forty years Buck Williams has managed the Geneva Municipal Airport where he has offered general aviation services, taught flying lessons, operated commercial flying services, as well as enhanced the overall awareness of aviation to hundreds of Geneva County residents. 

Since 1967 Buck has trained well over 100 local citizens to fly. He has numerous students who have gone on to become rated in instruments, and multi-engine airplanes. He has witnessed many of his students become commercial pilots and even a few that have entered a professional career as pilots for various airlines. 

Operating as a commercial pilot, Buck has flown to over 300 airports in over thirty states originating from Geneva Municipal Airport (33J). Buck offered his flying services to individuals, businesses and served the funeral professional for several years to return the remains of families loved ones to the wiregrass for burial. Most recently Buck has held flying contracts with the Alabama Forestry Department flying fire patrol and pine beetle patrol. Also, during his 43 years as the FBO (fixed base operator) Manager at Geneva Municipal Airport, Buck has always made an effort to supply aviation fuel, mechanic services, and good advice to those who seek it. 

Thirty-eight of the ninety-two public airports in Alabama are fittingly named for individuals. If you feel that Buck Williams’ contribution to aviation has been one of exemplary service, then help us make the Geneva Municipal Airport the thirty-ninth airport named for an individual.
