On September 2, 2021, Andrew Hunter, a student at LHS, slammed a student who was peacefully sitting at their lunch table with a pride flag down onto the ground. This student was not provoking anybody and simply using their freedom of expression. News has spread around that he has only faced a suspension, but he was not kicked off of any of his sports team(s), which is incredibly unfair. Since what he has done is considered battery in the handbook and was committed with malicious intent against somebody using freedom of expression, anybody who signs this petition is asking for Andrew Hunter to be kicked or face any kind of suspension or punishment in relation to any sports teams he’s on for committing a hate crime against a student.

One hundred people have signed this now and it feels heavy to see the number grow this quickly. It is exhausting to keep pushing for accountability when the school stays silent but I am not going to turn back.

A thousand people have now signed this petition and it is honestly exhausting to keep processing how much this has grown. I am tired and the days are getting harder but seeing this many people acknowledge the reality of what happened keeps me pushing forward.

Reaching this level of support feels heavy because it confirms how many of us saw the same injustice and felt powerless. It has been an exhausting road but seeing this volume of people refuse to look away gives me the resolve to keep pushing.

Do the right thing. With the privilege of extra curriculum activities comes the responsibility to be a decent human being. The school/district needs to decide if this person fairly represents the character and imageb of the school. Do the right thing.

No matter what age, even under the age of 18, should assault and harassment be acceptable from anyone. This kid does not deserve to keep his spots and positions in all academic and sport related school activities from LHS. Truly unacceptable.

what he did was a hateful act and he deserves more punishment than he’s recieved so far. If he’s allowed to stay on the sports team it will be a great example of how people are allowed to discriminate against minorities without many consequences.

Nobody who exhibits this type of behaviour towards someone should be rewarded or allowed to continue pursuing this behaviour without consequence. This isn’t the type of person anyone should be proud to say is representing them or their team.

As a gay person just freshly out of high school? This is disgusting, but of course THIS high school of all places would be incredibly tolerable of that and act like doing the bare minimum is acceptable and ignore both the law and their own handbook.

This is appalling. If the roles were reversed, I doubt such leniency would be given. Stop protecting bullies because they wear a sports jersey. Also suspend the jerks at the table filming and laughing for being aware of what the plan and not stopping it.
