Conor Milne, student of Burlington Highschool, received an outright wrong 10 day out of school suspension. He also now has Antisemitism on his report becuase of a mistake. Conor posted a picture of two kids that have no relation to him. What he didn’t see (along with many others) was that there was a small swastika in the picture. However, conor had nothing to do with this. He simply took a picture and posted it along with 19 other photos in the yearly recap on instagram. Posting the picture was without a doubt a mistake, however if Conor did in fact not see the antisemitist symbol then I don’t believe Conor should receive as harsh of a punishment that he has received.

I believe that the repercussion of this for Conor were unfair. The person taking the picture gets 10 days of suspension can’t play sports anymore and gets it on his record, while the person that has the actual symbol as there background and showing it only gets 7 days of suspension. I believe that this is of course bad but the punishment for Conor was very harsh harsher than the person that actually had the symbol up. I could see him getting suspended for a few days and that it but 10 days no sports and on his permit record is absurd.
