The Student Learning Advocates' mission, in collaboration with the administration and staff of Anoka-Hennepin School District, is to support the efforts of our students to succeed academically and socially as well as strengthen our relationships with the families and the communities our students represent.
An SLA is placed at each elementary, middle and high school to better serve K-12 students and their families.
With the "Budget Cuts" these positions are being taken from all over the school district. Removing idols and people known as a family away from home, sorrow and desperation from students is being shown through protests, walk-outs and many more attempts to keep there SLA's. Instead of cutting leaders out of our lives we the students of Champlin Park High School not only speak for ourselves, but for the entire school district as well. We want, need, and love our SLA's.
I am currently finalizing a formal proposal to outline the specific impact of Student Learning Advocates on daily operations for school board review. Several reporters have requested interviews regarding the budget cuts and I am coordinating those discussions to keep this issue in the public eye.

My kids rely on their SLA so much. It is not right to take away the one person who actually listens to them when things get hard at school. Please keep them.

SLA's are essential. They do more in a day than most admin do all year. Ridiculous decision.
