Keeping Illinois kids safe
Mass shootings in schools have become rampant and an epidemic. Passing gun laws is important, but clearly not happening tomorrow. As communities and parents we need to take control of what we can to ensure our kids come home from school everyday. The days of hiding behind desks, in closets, and pulling down the shades are OVER! We need an actual physical barrier between a gunman and our classrooms. I have done an insurmountable research, and have found a reasonably priced effective product that when installed blockades our classrooms from the gunman even if he were to shoot the lock or door. It’s called Night Lock and costs $75.00 per a classroom. $75.00 to protect our kids. To me that is priceless. In 2020 legislation finally caught up to public outcry for safer school environments in Michigan regarding an active shooting. Michigan passed.Public Act 45 that allowed and required the use of temporary door locking devices. By the grace of fate Oxford High School had them during the mass shooting in 2021 and they WORKED! Devastatingly,4 kids did parish but they had been in the hallway. Kids who were in classrooms were protected and survived. After the horrifying experience, parents personally called Night Lock and thanked them for what they do and for saving their child’s lives. Students and faculty were able to remain calm during the shooting because they knew they had extra protection that they could count on. Our children our being slaughtered and our school officials are saying nothing. Proposing nothing. The threat of a gunman is way more prevalent than a fire breaking out, we have fire extinguishers in all school/classrooms. Yet, we have nothing in place to address our children’s greatest threat. The AR15. Please sign my petition to present to Chicago Public schools as well as Governor Pritzker demanding we take action in ensuring our children can grow up. Every school across our country should have physical protection against a gunman. It needs to be required for keeping a school up to code. We need to be our children’s advocates.
