This is a petition to protect the Rural Settlement on Hackney Prairie Rd by relocating the proposed Hackney Prairie elementary school to a location adjacent to the Ocoee High School site. The result would eliminate the need to open the gates on Rich Drive (in Forest Oaks subdivision) and Timber Ridge Trail (in the Sawmill subdivision), eliminating the increased traffic on Hackney Prairie Road and the cut through traffic in your neighborhoods.
Orange county ordinances protecting rural settlements state that:
*It is not demonstrated that other potential sites were evaluated as being suitable
*It is determined that the proposed uses by size massing and traffic, will unduly impact the historic and rural character of the Rural Settlement.
* The Proposed use is located in a Rural Settlement that has maintained a rural and historic character, consistent with the intent of Rural Settlements.
