The Worcestershire YMCA is a charity which supports and helps young local homeless and vulnerable people. We house 137 people across Worcestershire in our Foyer and Hostel. The reason for writing this status is we are currently facing county council cuts of up to 50% which will drastically reduce the services we offer to homeless people. The impact of this could result in higher numbers of people living on the streets, increased costs to police and health services and more unneeded pressure on social housing. As the work we do at the YMCA assists homeless people in accessing services which can help them towards a bigger and brighter future. We hope that with peoples help from this online petition you could help us gain recognition and highlight the importance of the YMCA Worcester. I as an 'Administrative Consultation Volunteer' am pleading for you to help us fight against cuts being imposed, so we can carry on providing a brighter future to homeless and vulnerable people.
The feedback from local families has been heavy to process while I spend my days tracking down council members who refused to return my calls. It is exhausting to fight for resources when the people in charge look the other way but I am staying here until someone finally gives us an answer.

it would be unfair to the disadvantaged and homeless to close a place intended for them, I know Worcester has st pauls hostel but the ymca standards are far better I have been told an staff are more helpfull with disadvantaged youths.

If we don't show enough evidence of the work that homeless services do, then I would like to ask the decision makers to spend 24 hours at YMCA, St Paul's and Maggs and meet and work with our clients.

We know there is not enough money in the pot to fund as we have done before but why do the most vulnerable suffer the most with each funding cut. This is a priority funding stream ...its not only a false economy its just wrong.

I know the Council is having to cut costs radically, but this area should simply not be up for discussion. Young people wouldn't become homeless without very good reason, and you can't throw young lives away before they've barely begun and still call yourself civilised.

A very important service that I relied on for a period of 18 months until something more permanent came along. Cameron and his cronies have made rough sleeping illegal as well as finding shelter and also closing night shelters and now putting in jeopardy services to help homeless people. I guess the tories want a laeger prsion population costing more to the tax payer than pumping money in to preventing homelessness...
