For years, the residents of the Junction Triangle were promised, and even lured to the neighbourhood by the signs of a METRO grocery store on the corner of Lansdowne and Dupont. Fuse Condominiums had this sign dating back nearly 4 yeas or more. Although they have kept their promise of a Shoppers Drug Mart, the Metro signs have been removed and our city councillor's office confirmed Food Basics was moving into this ever-changing and gentrifiying neighbourhood. Let's tell the developers we want them to keep their promise of a METRO! Please sign this petition and share with anyone you think would appreciate this.

The momentum is undeniable. This neighborhood clearly knows what it was promised.

The developer is still ignoring our emails about the site. Your comments prove that a grocery store swap is not what this neighborhood signed up for.

It's pretty weak of Metro Inc to put one brand up to help sell a condo, and then show up with their low-end brand when it's time to actually build. I'm shopping at Loblaws instead, just on principle.

I am dissapointed with the bait and switch and was hoping for a grocery that would offer greater product selection and access to the department services such as the meat/fish and bakery, considering the other grocery store options currently available nearby.

I've been waiting to get a grocery within walking distance that offers quality food that I'm willing to pay for. If this continues to be a Food Basics, I'll continue to drive to the nearby Loblaws. It's too bad if Metro doesnt recognize the changing demographic and needs of the area.

When I bought my new townhouse on Foundry Ave my real estate agent and the billboard signs promised a Metro opening soon. We've waited 6 years. A Metro is what's needed to elevate this neighborhood and particularly this troubled intersection.

Potential buyers & actual condo owners were lured into the neighbourhood partly because of the (now) falsely advertised, higher-end Metro. We do not need another lower-end grocery store. With more and more condominium units coming up, the community demands the Metro they were promised.

I was very much looking forward to a Metro in this neighbourhood. We are a building of young professionals with informed and eclectic tastes that could benefit from Metro's diversified brand selection.

Not happy about the bait and switch tactic. We need the broader product availability of metro

No YOU need to have all of that. Nobody else living here (many of them low and middle-income working class people) needs that; good food is all that they need. If you need all of that, shop at any of the Whole Foods locations elsewhere in Toronto or some other place that sells food like that.
