Not happy about the bait and switch tactic. We need the broader product availability of metro

No YOU need to have all of that. Nobody else living here (many of them low and middle-income working class people) needs that; good food is all that they need. If you need all of that, shop at any of the Whole Foods locations elsewhere in Toronto or some other place that sells food like that.

It should be YOU yuppies that move to Scarborough and live there, and buy houses there. Of course, you all won't do this, since you'd be living near people of color, and you don't like that at all, I'll bet.

It's pretty weak of Metro Inc to put one brand up to help sell a condo, and then show up with their low-end brand when it's time to actually build. I'm shopping at Loblaws instead, just on principle.

What a stupid petition. I have lived near and shopped at both Metro and Food Basics. FOOD BASICS IS BETTER AND YOU SHOULD HOPE THAT'S WHAT YOU GET. They sell the exact same things as Metro but at significantly lower prices. There's no reason to want a Metro aside from perhaps the PERCEPTION of being a "high-end" grocery store, but in reality the products Food Basics sells are not just as good as what Metro sells, they are literally the same thing but cheaper.

Good, hopefully that will discourage more of them being built, and hopefully, that might encourage rental housing similar to the housing planned for the corner of Bloor and Bathurst where Honest Ed's used to be, instead of overpriced crappy condos that aren't even built properly.

No, it's not. And this place could just as well accommodate a No Frills as well. The silly entitled fools that bought a condo here can either put up, shut up, or get lost.

I don't know if that's sarcasm or not, but if it isn't, you're a dick for saying that.

You already have one, and there's NOTHING wrong with Food Basic other than it doesn't fit your snobby, stuck up 'needs' for food; deal with it.

Nobody gives a frak about your stupid food needs, dufus; if you don't like Food Basics, DON'T BUY A UNIT IN THIS CONDO AND DON'T LIVE HERE. Simple as that.

Bring back the Metro - the residents that purchased their condos did so on that premise and now they've been lied to. Hopefully if the Metro comes back we will finally be able to be rid of the eyesore across the street

In case you didn't know, Metro OWNS Food Basics and that is why the Metro Group sign was there? Did anyone stop to think maybe the real estate agent lied to you to get you to purchase? I can't believe people are complaining more about a grocery store than the pending traffic NIGHTMARE that is about to begin! One lane of traffic each way and 3 sets of lights within 2 blocks?!?! But let's ALL complain about a grocery store! Wow is all I have to say! Has anyone thought about how long your commute will be either by transit or car? I guess not or you would not have purchased in that area....good luck all! Oh right..... because of a grocery store! LOL
