East Suffolk Council want to increase the rent for Stocks Fun Fair on Fort Green carpark from £300 per day to £618 per day. This funfair is a tradition and has been part of the carnival from the beginning. This 106% increase will outprice the fair and an integral part of this carnival will be lost forever. If this petition gets 1200 signatures it can be sent to East Suffolk Council and will automatically be referred to full council for consideration and debate.

Please reduce the rent, better still let be FREE, Stocks is only a small fair, it is unfair they are charged the same as the big fairs
We lose this and the whole carnival may as well be scraped. That will kill off tourists for the summer months, Not a good idea for Aldeburghs economy. The idea of summer at Aldeburgh and the carnival to finish off the school holidays is a massive pull for the town.
My family have been enjoying the fair at Aldeburgh since Mum went on the cake walk in the 1920’s.
Aldeburgh carnival wouldn't be the same without the funfair. I've lived here all my life and have always gone every year now my kids do and they are gutted it could all stop.
Ultimately this will be a self defeating actin by the council. The carnival would be vastly depleted without the funfair, and many people would not bother staying after the parade, thus reducing the income of all participants.
I believe that fostering community spirit and supporting events such as the Aldeburgh carnival is key to keeping small businesses and towns alive. The council should be doing all they can to help this wonderful event continue to be successful.
Friendly staff and a good fun addition to the carnival brings more people and spend more time and money while visiting. Why ruin a long and lasting old time tradition I say.
