North Glendale is planning on extending the current parking lot on the north side of the building west to include 46 additional spaces. At a cost to the Kirkwood School District of $219,442 with a 10% contingency, so likely $240,000, this project will take away almost 1/2 of the remaining green space and convert it to concrete parking. This parking lot will sit empty more than 5 months of the year, and we will be limited to less space to enjoy the only fields in Glendale. This project is slated to begin in a few weeks, so please join us today in an effort to halt this project, or at the very least limit the scope, to save our fields.
Thank you
All elementary schools in Kirkwood have this issue. Having more parking won’t solve the issue. I’d like to know what accidents have occurred before tax dollars are spent to take away green space?
