Keep Mrs. Carr Teaching Kindergarten

This letter is on behalf of parents, teachers, volunteers, family members, and concerned citizens of Holland Township School District.

Mrs. Nicole Carr has been a beloved kindergarten teacher at Holland Township School for 18 years. She is also an active member of the community - coaching two local softball teams, including Holland Township School’s own softball team. She was told that she will have to move to a 3rd grade teaching position for this coming school year. If this happens, she may retire, as this is not where her passion lies. Removing her from her kindergarten teaching position would be a significant loss to our community’s educational foundation.

Her dedication to teaching and compassionate approach to her kindergarten students is unmatched. She has always welcomed her students with open arms, teaching them not only curriculum, but to be good friends and good humans. She has successfully fostered the love of learning for hundreds of Holland kindergarten students with her innovative and creative teaching methods, setting a strong educational platform for future academic engagement and success.

Please sign this petition to ensure that Mrs. Carr remains in the kindergarten classroom where she is most needed! Pass it along to anyone you'd like.

Also, please plan to attend the Holland School Board of Education meeting in Holland School auditorium on Tuesday, June 25th at 7pm to support Mrs. Carr.

Thank you for your support!

Nicole was a born educator. As a friend of 50 years, some of my earliest memories are of Nicole teaching me basic preschool and kindergarten lessons in our neighborhood playing school. Her passion has always been in early education. It is only fitting that she should remain in kindergarten to finish out her esteemed teaching career.

I wish schools would stop moving teachers that are passionate and happy where they are. If a teacher is happy and successful let them be and let them continue. No one wants a teacher that’s been forced to teach a grade they aren’t passionate about

Mrs Carr was a fantastic teacher to my son and daughter. I strongly support keeping her in the current position she has. She’s excellent at what she does, and to move her to any other position would be a loss to the kindergarten program at Holland.

Carr taught both my girls and was an incredible support for them and for us parents. Kindergarten is clearly her passion and more students need to be welcomed into her warm and loving classroom.

Mrs. Carr needs to remain in K. She truly has a gift for the little ones. My son Jack was in her class this year, and he exhibits a lot of ADHD tendencies. Mrs. Carr was amazing to work with as a parent, and she was so patient and loving with him all year. It’s so important to have someone like her with the little ones, esp in situations like this.

Unfair to her and students as curriculum is vastly different for kindergarten vs 3rd grade.

Nicole Carr is a fabulous teacher! It would be a great detriment to remove her from her kindergarten position and the positive, encouraging, nurturing, solid foundation she has given to students, including my daughter, for nearly 20 years. My daughter is currently a graduate student at Duke University studying to become a physical therapist. Nicole Carr and teachers like her have helped make my daughter’s dream a reality. Please keep Nicole Carr where she belongs in kindergarten.
