We strongly object to the transfer of Mark Cossarin and would like to ask the TLDSB Director, Larry Hope, to reconsider his decision to transfer Mr. Cossarin from I.E Weldon Secondary School. As the principal, he has been an outstanding leader and instrumental in the creation of leading-edge, progressive, educational, athletic, technical and arts programs. Weldon is one of the top schools in the area due to his leadership. If you were to walk down the halls of Weldon, you would realize that Mark Cossarin has a relationship with every student at the school. He goes out of his way to meet and support each student and teacher at Weldon. On top of this, he spends many hours coaching, volunteering, and helping run a multitude of events. He has played an irreplaceable role in building and making Weldon's awesome community.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people have come forward to speak up for Mr. Cossarin. If we can get a few more people to join us, I think it will be impossible for the board to ignore how much this community values his leadership.

I am a grad from the class of 2009. I believe that if you transfer Mr. Cossarin to FFSS the students and staff would suffer. Este will not bring the same passion for not only the education but the health and happiness of each student. Transferring Cossarin is a huge mistake. Wake up before the students at Weldon suffer.
He has helped me so much with everything I’ve done at Weldon with both school work and personal issues. From a simple “Hello” in the halls he can brighten anybody’s day. Removing him from Weldon, where he is familiar, would be a horrible decision.
Mr. Cossarin is an amazing principle and has helped our child overcome so much. He himself has overcome so much. The school, staff and all the kids and parents would be heartbroken to see him go.
Mark Cossarin has transformed I.E Weldon into the “flagship” school within the Kawartha/Halliburton board, moving him would be a mistake, you cannot replace his passion and positive energy. How does a director with no day to day interaction with administration make these decisions? Please rethink this potential change!
My daughter currently attends I E Weldon and feels Mr. Cossarin is the best principal she's had. The programs he's helped introduce have made Weldon the most engaging school in our area.
This seems change for changes sake. Keeping Mark as Principle of I.E. Weldon is the only sensible thing to do.
Wise words from a senior educator: “This was not the year to be making wholesale changes to principals at the secondary level. Familiar people should have been left in place for at least one more year; those who understand and know their people to best manage what will be a very difficult year in 2019-2020.“ It’s not too late to rethink this decision, Larry. Good leaders know when to pivot.

We need to see more people at this level get involved like he does. Most times admin. sits back and takes all the credit when they don't put in the effort but not this man. This is what education is suppose to look like.
