Final supporters
Dog owners from Orleans and its environs have been bringing their dogs to Heritage Dog Park for many years. The park is currently designated by the City of Ottawa as an off-leash dog park. It is visited every single day of the year by responsible dog owners who want their dogs to enjoy both the off-leash play area and socialization with other dogs who are part of the Heritage Dog Park pack. It is the only place in Orleans where dogs are given such a wide berth to play and enjoy being dogs. Dog owners love to see their furry companions enjoy this wonderful space!
A request has been made to the city of Ottawa to re-designate the park’s status to an on-leash park. The purpose of this petition is to document support for keeping Heritage Dog Park an off-leash area for our dogs.

I’m disabled and I require having a safe place to let my dog off leash to run and socialize with other dogs. I recently moved to the area and this off-leash park was a decision factor in moving. I would be heartbroken and rather inconvenienced of things had to change. Thanks.
As a professor of Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa, I know that dog parks are important places for both humans and dogs to be active. Baseball is not nearly as popular an activity as dog walking and off-leash dog activity.
Heritage Park is the only large off-leash dog park in Orleans, and it's used every day of the year. There are plenty of existing baseball diamonds in Orleans, and most are only used in one season and a few evenings per week. We don't need another diamond, we NEED our dog park!
I use this park everyday. Having the off leash portion taken away to make way for yet another baseball diamond would be a disservice for many people in the community who have dogs and look at those dogs as an important member of the family, sometimes their only family.
I used this park all year around at least once a day and twice on weekend. Love walking in the woods running down the ravine with all zoey's friends. Best way to end my day week day and start my day on weekend 7:30 am for 2 hours.. This park is definitely a must keep off leash
I take my dog almost every day and she loves it and gets to play with her friends and lots of healthy exercise
I go walk my dog every day and also meet wonderful other sog owners.

This park isn't just for the dogs. Wonderful friendships are made, fresh air and physical activity take place there daily. Places like these help keep families healthy by being outside surrounded with friends. We need your help to keep this in our community.
