Many of you are aware that Bessemer City Board of Education is considering closing down Greenwood Elementary School. They have not been clear on why they have intentions of doing so, but one thing that is clear, this will be a huge disservice to the students, faculty and staff, and community of Greenwood. Please join us in showing the BOE that is not necessary and as a community we will not sit silently by and allow it to happen!!

The Bessemer City Board of Education is still refusing to provide a straight answer about why they want to gut our community. I am hearing from parents every day who are furious about this blatant disregard for our children. We are going to keep turning up the heat until they explain themselves.

Please do not close our school. My kids are absolutely devastated about losing friends and teachers they have come to love as family.
We have grandchildren children that attend and love this school. Have another that will start next year there we hope. We love that we can walk them to school everyday.
I am a preschool owner/ director. All three of my adult children have attended Greenwood. Now my granddaughter is enrolled! Greenwood is one of the best elementary schools we have! It would be a terrible disservice to the community if this school is closed!!!
1. Keepthe school open 2. End bussing & allow the children in area attend that school 3. You’ll save a FORTUNE on bussing costs that can be put back into the school.
As a former student of this school, I attended from K-8 many years ago. I have so many wonderful memories there. Secondly, as a lifelong resident of Greenwood, this school has been a historical staple in the community. The BOE has always given this school the shaft. To close this school and to leave it to rot cannot be your option. I highly object. The children of this school deserve better and the lack of transparency from the BOE is absolutely terrible. We all demand better and more.

Deanie Stephens Coe- This little school is such an asset to our Greenwood Community, Please don't close it down. I'm a retired school teacher and I fully realize the importance of neighborhood schools.
