Despite his best efforts, my brother, Cpl. Frank Paonessa, of the Canadian Armed Forces was advised that he is no longer suitable for enrolment in the Canadian Armed Forces, and was Honorably Discharged. His last effective day of service was 21 November 2014.

And as such, we, the following people, (be it Canadian Forces Service Members, Veterans, Civilian Staff Members or Others), firmly believe that the Canadian Forces would do well to allow Cpl. Paonessa to return to active service. We politely request that the senior ranking members of the Canadian Forces, members of his unit, members of DMCA and all others involved, including the Chief of Defence Staff, rescind the decision to have him released.

We furthermore request that these agencies focus on the positive aspects of his career within the CAF and also focus on the positive reflection he brings to the CAF. Some of which but not inclusive too, consist of the following:

Assisting other citizens in the community
(http://www.ebrandon.ca/messagethread.aspx?message_id=617356&cat_id=3);

Implementationof the Child Find Board within Military Police Station at Canadian Forces Base Shilo; and

Assisting soldiers with PTSD in times of distress and need.

These are only some of the factual incidents which represent his character as a dedicated and loyal soldier.

**UPDATE**This matter will now appear before a Federal Court Judge for appeal to return F.Paonessa back to active duty with the Military Police***

Updates

November 5, 2014

The level of support for this appeal continues to grow beyond my initial expectations. This collective focus on my brother's contributions reminds the authorities that his service remains valued by many.

One thing I didn't see was why you were released. What was the government's reason for kicking you out?

I have come to know Cpl Paonessa on a personal level and never before have I ran into a soldier who is more capable, understanding, and willing to help others out in any aspect of his daily life.

another example that there is NO justice for men. Women are always given the benefit of the double. When are courts going to be a fair and just?

I've known frank for4 years and the first thing he did when i met him was take me in, put a roof over my head and feed me. didn't even know me. He's a very caring person and would throw his ass on the line for anyone. he's revolved his whole life around this job and moves all the way to brandon manitoba and you guys want to do this? over what? a few bad decisions? so now we are in the wrong for making mistakes? we're all human and I'm sure who ever is issuing this discharge to Frank has made a few bad decisions in their life as well, like letting frank go.

I agree with u sheri. People are judged harshly these days and forget that accidents happen, mistakes happen, doesn't mean to strip a person of their job or career when they have put their soul and life into it, and have made huge sacrifices for it as well. He has helped me through some tough times as well as so many other people in the community. He is always willing to help no matter what the situation is and I hope that the CAF would reconsider their decision as they would be loosing a great asset to this country.

They beg for MPs and then toss out the ones who actually have hearts and souls. They gave him no support that I could see, only ridicule and bullying. His dismissal is setting them up for a lawsuit. Worst work environment I've experienced in my life, it shocked me what kind of manipulation and cold blooded lack of empathy they had for their co-workers, every single one of them.
