The city council and the community development board voted unanimously to deny the proposal. While the developer has initiated legal action against the city, we have successfully defended our zoning regulations through our collective persistence. Please monitor our website for information regarding the upcoming litigation.

Thank you for your support! The apartment project was denied at City Council 5-0 and Community Development Board 6-0.

Despite these resounding defeats, the property owner has filed suit against the City to be able to proceed.

The momentum behind this petition is substantial as we approach the one hundred signature mark. Achieving this milestone will strengthen our credibility when we present our concerns to the city officials. Please help us reach this threshold so we can demonstrate the true scale of community opposition.

Last year we bought our home on Twelve Oaks Lane in Neptune Beach. We specifically targeted NB because of the neighborhood feel and lack of apartments and hotels that most beach towns have. Please preserve this wonderful area.

The beaches community does not need more apartments. There is way to much congestion on 3rd street now. The owner of the land doesn't live at the beach. He lives in Virginia and the company only is thinking of making money not about the beaches area or the people who own a house at the beach.

I oppose the structure of the rental units and the hotel. I do not want more tenants who are not invested in the long-term health of the community and in the additional permanent traffic (as opposed to local traffic which comes and goes to retail establishments).

The concern for me is the precedent...will the next developer demand a similar zoning change and point to this one as justification. If you open the exception door it will be difficult to close.

I am against building apartments in the Kmart location ! I think the property should be use for the betterment of the community and put City Hall and the police department there ! Keep it commercial ! not residential !

The Beaches Leader recently published a study that concluded the quality of life at our beaches has gone down because of traffic woes. Just because the development will bring in more tax revenue does not mean its the right thing to do.
