We, the undersigned feel that the murals on Columbae's walls are an important part of the history and culture of the Columbae House, and respectfully request that they be preserved and not painted over. As a cooperative founded on the principle of exploring "social change through nonviolent action," Columbae has a distinct character and culture that makes it special to residents. The murals are a beautiful and poignant reminder of Columbae's history and serve as a thread that unites members of the community both old and new. More than just art, these murals are symbols of a house that so many people have loved. The destruction of this art would represent a severe loss to all residents and signify a fundamental lack of respect for the community, history, and culture of Columbae.
