Alumni & Friends,

On March 4, 2019 Professor Clive Craigen was informed that his contract as a professor at Moody Bible Institute would not be renewed. This is a huge loss for the institute for many reasons:

- He is the program head of the Urban Ministry major and the only professor who teaches urban ministry classes.

- He has created and is in charge of the Urban Cohorts Program.

- He coordinates and plans Missions Conference.

- He is the faculty liaison on the Diversity Committee.

- He lives in the city, has a deep passion for the city, and has spent years cultivating strong relationships with ministry professionals in the city. His absence would further the disconnect between the Institute and the city where it dwells.

- His teaching style is personable and effective. He challenges students to think critically and biblically.

- He is also an ally and advocate on campus for students of color and those who feel marginalized and voiceless on campus. His presence is valuable to the overall atmosphere of this Institute.

In light of how integral and valuable Craigen is to our Institute as well as the education and ministry goals of students, we want our Institute to reevaluate the decision to not renew Clive Craigen's contract at the end of the 2019 academic school year.

Are you willing to sign this petition to keep Clive Craigen as a professor at Moody Bible Institute?

Seeing this much support for Clive reminds me why I started this in the first place. He has poured so much life into us and watching this community rally to protect his place at Moody is deeply moving.

Craigen boasts Christ and Him crucified. His views are unique, but powerful in showing the student body just how diverse surrender to Christ can look. Dismissing him in the grounds of his views on diversity does not teach unity, it teaches legalism.

His heart for Native Americans shines bright in a world that doesn't recognize our forgotten people. Clive not only embraced them, but drew Native students towards Christ. Please reconsider thid decision that impacts more than just the Moody family.

Clive Craigen was deeply influential to my education at Moody. He gave my experience soul and pragmatism - and I wasn’t even directly in his program. If Moody is to continue as an urban located and urban focused institution, it needs his voice and passion.

2014 alum. Clive taught me how to live out the gospel like few other professors did. I can firmly say I’m a better, more empathetic, and biblically-minded pastor because of Clive’s influence on me. Letting him go is a huge mistake.

Clive has been an invaluable resource and force for the Kingdom. Words cannot express how God has used him to model incarnational ministry - Christ in real life - for so many students and others in full=time ministry as well. It would be a TRAGEDY to lose him!

Clive was the best professor I had a Moody. He, and his family, invested in me on a regular basis and has stayed in touch years later. He not only shaped the urban environment at Moody, but was a voice for the voiceless at the Institute.

This is so disappointing and I'm praying Moody wakes up and works much harder on the issues Jesus continually raised. Urban Ministry and the issues of racism continually need to be addressed at Moody and all other Christian institutions. Signed, one sad Moody graduate
