As students of Malone University, we recognize the commitment and dedication of its faculty both in and out of the classroom. Malone's professors have a profound impact on the spiritual growth of their students, as well as influence into their daily lives. Malone University conducts itself by the motto "Christ's Kingdom First." This means advancing the gospel through many avenues, be they liberal arts, athletics, biblical studies, or spiritual discipline. The Kingdom of God is not of this world, and must not be viewed with natural eyes. As such, we are called to be Kingdom-minded, and to outweigh potential drawbacks in the natural world with the benefits of spiritual development. It has come to our attention that Department of Theology professor Greg Linville has been dismissed from his current position. In response to this action, we feel that we must state our confidence in Dr. Linville. In our opinion, Dr. Linville has shown exemplary service to his field, and has provided a moral standard for students in all majors and departments. The recent administrative decision against renewing Dr. Linville's contract has been met with confusion and opposition amongst the students of the Department of Theology, who feel strongly that Dr. Linville is a most valuable commodity to the Malone faculty. We further maintain that the abrupt dismissal of Dr. Linville from his current position has not allowed him sufficient time or opportunity to seek out another position. Students believe that without Dr. Linville, many of the classes that he teaches would suffer. Student preference should account for something, and since the overwhelming voice of the students supports Dr. Linville in his current capacity, we seek to make this preference heard. The purpose of this notice is to petition the Administration and Board of Trustees to reconsider their decision in the dismissal of Dr. Linville. We encourage you to prayerfully consider this decision and remember Malone's pledge to put Christ's Kingdom First--no matter the cost.

Absolute shame. He was always there to talk when I was struggling through classes. Real loss for the school.
