I graduated from Moody in 2010 with a degree in Urban Ministry. Clive Craigen was the best Professor I had and gave me an invaluable education for my current work as a teacher in Chicago.

Professor Clive Craigen is a much-needed voice on Moody's campus. The institute cannot afford to let such a dedicated, diversity-oriented, mission-minded, gospel-centered educator go...it would be a tremendous loss. I pray that MBI leadership will reconsider this. Our next generation of global leaders are in need of Clive's wisdom and instruction.

I do not know why the decision was made but I do know is that I have been greatly challenged and encouraged by the simplicity with which Craigen communicates things. As someone who loves deep study I have been the most challenged by Criagens class as we consider simple yet important questions like what is the Gospel? and how can we love people?
I'm all for deep theology and study of Scripture, but I fear if we are not careful we will lose sight of the reason why we study. I think Prof. Craigen plays an instrumental role in helping students keep what is important at the center. God forbid Moody graduates know their systematics but dont know how to share the gospel, love people, care for the hurting, or apply what they are learning.

I have know Clive Craigen since college. His godly character and desire to serve the Lord has been unquestioned. I can say personally that Clive has been a bastion for students of color at MBI, an understanding spirit for students who are wounded and hurting, and a voice for those who have no voice. As a Native American, I was made aware of the fact that MBI has only a handful of students who claim Native American status. He has gone out of his way to help them and give them help as they have needed. It would be a tremendous loss to MBI to lose a man who is as committed to the values of MBI as Clive is.

Clive has been a good personal friend and support for me as I've interacted with MBI. I have witnessed Clive go to great lengths to help students of color navigate the college environment. I've encouraged students to attend MBI solely on the strength of my relationship with Clive.

My husband and I are alumni. As financial donors, we ask you to keep Clive Craigen on as faculty for the reasons stated in this petition. Our trust in MBI leadership was harmed last year, and it would most likely be irreparable if Craigen were to be laid off. We believe there are underlying, unacceptable reasons for the lay-off, not budget cuts as currently purported.

As a former fellow-student, co-worker and current friend of Clive's, I can give him most of the credit for my decision to move to Chicago, work in Chicago and eventually become the mother of a bi-racial family. MBI won the lottery when he was hired, then will surely LOSE by letting him go.

I am a Moody alumnus (2017) in South America serving among the Aché tribe of Paraguay. Clive’s presence and influence during my time at the institute was very important to me and it is thanks to his biblical teaching and perspectives on socioeconomic issues that I am better prepared for ministry in a tribal setting where there is discrimination against the Aché. I believe Moody will lose a valuable voice for the marginalized and deprive students of necessary exposure to issues that affect the long term impacts of any ministry.

While this professor is not as professional as most, he exemplifies the importance of relationships in discipleship. I know Missions Conference is a lot for him to do, so I would bring others in to help him plan it so that he can focus on his teaching.
