To the TVA Administration:

You have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the economic well-being of the Tri-Cities Region. It is our understanding that TVA is seriously considering keeping Boone Lake up at full pool for 1 month longer in the fall, beginning the draw-down October 1 as opposed to the current practice of beginning that draw-down in early September. It is our understanding that an October 1 draw down will work in conjunction with the current Operating Flood Guide as per TVA hydrologists.

As you know, the economic impact of Boone Lake for the Tri-Cities region is in excess of $135 million annually. Thus, with the extended 5+ year draw-down of the Lake during the dam repair, the economic hardships experienced by the marina owners, property owners, boat owners as well as related boating and tourism businesses and our regional communities in general was significant. The economic benefit of keeping the lake up at full pool for a longer period of time was confirmed by a UT Study performed by the Center for Business and Economic Research - https://haslam.utk.edu/sites/default/files/HUD.pdf

We, the following, really appreciate all TVA has done to repair the dam and rejuvenate Boone Lake. We want you to know that we are in full support of keeping Boone Lake up at full pool for the month of September starting in 2022, and for the sake of all Tri Cities citizens, property owners and businesses who will experience an economic benefit, we strongly urge TVA to keep Boone Lake at full pool through the month of September on a regular basis and fulfill one of their primary missions of promoting and supporting economic development. We believe this is an excellent opportunity for TVA and our region to get the most out of the major investment your organization made in repairing Boone Dam.
