PETITION TO LIMIT THE HEIGHT OF NEW DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS IN BERTHOUD

To: Mayor Karspeck, Mayor Pro-Tem Murphy and the Town of Berthoud Trustees

We, the undersigned residents of Berthoud, CO hereby petition that a town wide ordinance be adopted and enforced that would limit the height of any new construction to two-stories or less inside of the Mountain Avenue Area Corridor*. (The Face of Berthoud)

*Mountain Avenue, from 1st Avenue to Meadowlark Drive.

We state and believe that this ordinance would act in direct correlation with the Town of Berthoud’s Comprehensive Plan, the Brand Assessment of Berthoud and the overwhelming community input and surveys against such Three Story development.

If adopted, this ordinance would include all development projects under review and any future developments.

WHEN SIGNING PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR FULL NAME INCLUDING FIRST AND LAST NAMES, YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AND YOUR HOME ADDRESS. PLEASE NOTE THAT ANY MONEY DONATED IN THIS PETITION WILL GO TO IPETITION (A FREE SERVICE) AND NOT TO OUR CAUSE.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT IN KEEPING BERTHOUD IN ITS TWO STORY GLORY!!!

Another concern would be if Berthoud Fire has resources to access a third story. It is important to keep Old Town as the focal point. Allowing larger buildings takes away from the folksy charm of our small town.

There should be a limit for all new development, not just on Mountain Avenue. Thanks to poorly written & defined building heights I now have a 48' tall house in my backyard. A new ordinance with a defined total maximum height is necessary to prevent excessive building & home heights.

We moved to this town for the small town feel, the safety of our children being able to ride their bike into town with no worry, to see above our neighbors 2 story homes for the gorgeous Mountain View. I know we are considered “the new ones” but apartments won’t be the answer.

These proposed three story structures violate the established character of the Gateway Park community we live in and love. Plus, without direct access to Mountain, the increased traffic on our street, 13th Street, will be dangerous at best.

No 3 story buildings on Main Street/ mountain ave. This will severely negatively effect the towns beauty but more importantly, Berthoud business owners that already have a hard time on mountain. This will not help Berthoud. Current business owners will be forced out and these people have been keep Berthoud business alive!

We do not want a 3 story complex with more people in are small town. We already have enough issues with our water situation. We already have problems with our childrens class sizes being too big for our teachers. Let's figure out our water, and school problems first before adding more homes, and apartments.

None of us want a huge 3 story apartment complex in our neighborhood! The filth, rats and a hundred other problems that come with something like this should bother everyone that lives in Berthoud!
