As many of you will have heard, Badminton is no longer one of the AU's High Performance Sports. This means that we will lose the Director of Badminton Role, which will have a big impact on the club at both the squad and social level. Please sign this petition to help us in convincing the AU to reinstate Badminton as HP or minimise the damage with funding.

The 3 main ways that it will affect social members is:

1) Increased fees (which will lead to less membership)

2) Less opportunities for coaching

3) Less court time

If anyone has any questions about how these changes will affect you don't hesitate to email!

The administration has acknowledged the volume of this response and agreed to a formal meeting to discuss the budget audit. I am currently drafting a briefing document that outlines the specific impact these fee increases will have on club participation.

One of the main reasons why I decided to choose the University of Exeter as my first choice was because Badminton was listed as a HP focus sport with a dedicated high level coach. This year the teams have seen fantastic results, mostly due to the HP support. If they are to continue this progress, Badminton needs to be kept as HP. This year the training and support I have received has greatly influenced my student satisfaction and has made my first year at Exeter unforgettable because it has helped me so much.

This could not have come at a worse time with all four BUCS teams finishing in the top half of their respective leagues. It would be a massive shame to let all this hard work go to waste next year with no structured training plans or full-time coach yet in place

I ran for AU President in my last year at Exeter and am astounded by the news that Badminton will be dropped from the High Performance Programme. The squad have had great results over the last few years and I believe they deserve to remain a high profile sport.

After working so hard to make badminton a performance sport and seeing it double in size (and BUCS points contributions) it's a travesty to see it being dropped now. The University has been steadily rising through the ranks in terms of sports performance which is attracting another demographic of student, by dropping badminton as a performance sport it will impact admissions adversely and is a huge mistake from a budget perspective. Keeping Badminton as a performance sport will definitely attract foreign students who bring in the highest amount of money for the University. Honestly I can't understand how this move makes any sense.

Badminton at Exeter has benefited greatly from having HPP assistance. It seems a shame when both the guys and girls team are gaining their best ever results that the sport is dropped. The University may be having financial issues but surely restructuring all the sports programmes would be more appropriate. There have also been expensive costs taken on by the AU like unnecessary increases in staff and buying a finger scanning system for the HPP gym that doesnt work and is unhelpful.

UEBC is such a well established growing club it would be a huge shame for it to lose it's HP status

Been a big badminton player for 6 years now, I'd hate to see anything bad happen to the badminton program at Exeter.
