this petition to keep the park open from 7am - 7pm During the winter months.
Cyclist
commuters, runners, dog walkers, mountain bikers all use Ashton Court during
summer and winter. We do not stop using this park just because the daylight
hours are less.
We all
pay our taxes, we expect sustained amenities!
The council has not responded to our inquiries yet so we must increase the pressure. Email your local representative today and demand they keep Ashton Court open until 7pm. Post this link on your Facebook wall right now to show them how many people rely on this park.

The momentum behind our campaign is undeniable and it proves that this community will not be pushed out of our own park. Post this link on your Facebook wall today and text three friends who use these trails so we can sharpen our focus on the council.

The road through Ashton Court is the safest way for us (my wife, me & 15-month old daughter) to get from our place in Leigh Woods to the gym (DL) in Long Ashton, where we prefer to cycle regardless the wheather. If the park is closed we have to use the A369 in the dark, which is with all the traffic (and some really mad drivers) not really an option, especially with the baby on the back seat or in the trailer. The only alternative is to take the car.

Many people rely on Ashton court as a safe cycling route to and from work, to close it so early is madness as the alternative is a busy unlit main road.

Corruption in the council once again. Reduce councilors and planners and use their salaries to keep the park open.

Any situation where cyclists can cycle safely away from the traffic should be maintained. The roads you have to travel on if you can't access Ashton Court, are dangerous and busy. A route through Ashton Court keeps people safe (cyclists and drivers alike!) It must be accessible!

I cycle through Ashton Court everyday on my way home from work, and the gates closing at 5.15pm in winter makes it really challenging for me. Perhaps keeping Clifton gate open a fraction like they did what it snowed, or creating a gap in the wall close to Clifton Gate and a proper path from the wall to the bike path.

I walk through Ashton Court estate to get to work in the morning. If the estate is closed in the early morning I'll be forced to add to Bristol's disgraceful traffic problems.
