Taking advantage of unsuspecting and vulnerable students in the classroom in order to indoctrinate them with one's personal politics has devastating effects. Many parents are leaving this type of instruction in masses for schools and classrooms that that align with their values.
Ascent has been the safe haven parents are flocking to in an effort to send their children to a school that won't openly try to turn children into political pawns. Unfortunately it has been found out that there have been accounts of a specific teacher and administrator frequently pushing their politics in the classroom for the last two years.
Add your name to the growing list of concerned parents who want to respectfully work toward and ensure Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County abides by the Barney Charter School Initiative standard by removing and preventing any source, now and in the future, from pushing a political agenda opposite of Hillsdale College values as well as remains a member school with Hillsdale College.

The fact that this has even come up as an issue is utter lunacy considering the make-up of the vast majority of the families at Ascent, and what they have separated from in their departure from “public education.” It’s time to understand if Ascent is simply a business that has leveraged present societal madness as a sales tool, or if the board and the CEO really believe in what they claim to, the 7 core virtues - courage, moderation, justice, responsibility, prudence, friendship, and wonder. If they do actually believe in these virtues then we should see accountability and transparency on full display as this issue progresses. I expect to see nothing less.
People are flocking from public schools to Ascent to avoid this kind of teaching, infiltration and indoctrination. We love it here, but cannot and will not stand for this. Preserve Ascent and keep this away from our kids.
We love Ascent and have recommended it to so many friends. However, we will consider homeschooling our 4 kids if this issue does not get resolved before they reach upper school.
Two of my younger grandchildren are blessed to be students at Ascent academy as a contributor to Hillsdale college and one who has great admiration for their principles that have filtered down to a scent academy to seek the truth to the good and see the beautiful to shape and form good citizenship citizens and the wonderful classical education they're receiving is truly a God thing in my eyes and I pray that it can remain as such
