The government protects the doctors by subsidizing malpractice insurance. Yes, it is paid out of your taxes. The CMPA (Canadian Medical Protection Agency) has so much money to fight for them that the average person can not stand up to them financially and they know it. Also our government caps the amount you can receive which is very minimal. I think it is time Canadians stopped paying for doctor's malpractice insurance and get our government to put the funds into health care for citizens. Don't forget if you launch a malpractice lawsuit they will fight you with your own tax dollars. The malpractice lawsuits should be individual, not capped and the government should stay out of it. Most cases of malpractice do not become public because people give up and are forced to live with their pain.

I just saw we hit two hundred and fifty signatures and honestly my head is spinning because I started this out of pure frustration in my living room late one night. It makes me feel a little less like I am shouting into a void to know so many people see why this is so broken for us.

As a citizen I am shocked by the medical malpractice that Josh and his family are victims of. As a lay person who experienced some of the same malpractice, the glaring errors are transparent and indisputable. The fact that they were contested, covered up and buried is illegal and immoral. This happens far too often and it has to STOP.
There is absolutely no accountability or transparency with Ontario's Health Care System. The entire system is completely broken and completely corrupt. The ordinary Ontario citizens has absolutely no chance when confronting these institution. Our Liberal government has not shown the slightest interest in improving and protect patient safety and the rights of the individual.
I'm sorry for your loss. It's so scary when medical mistakes happen. My 2 year old son received a dou le doae of Tylenol at an urgent care for an ear infection. I wondered why he fell asleep within 10 minutes of receiving the medication. The nurse said sorry but that it really wasn't a big deal as he was still within safe limits. Not a big deal - a dou le dose for a two year old - scary as a mom to trust care when the medical staff are often distracted, over worked and pissed off half the time - thats when mistakes happen.
Justice for Josh, they covered up the death of my daughter too at Sick Kids Toronto.
We have no rights. Doctors are above the law. This is why I am fighting for change.

Miracles happen every day. I pray you get the justice you deserve and that no one EVER has to suffer this way again. My deepest condolences.

all though josh was admitted from over dose, over dose didn't kill him-- the doctors did, Hope family somehow finds peace, DO NOT let this sleep
