They actually reopened the case and the new evidence is finally there so it feels like the weight of the world is off my shoulders. I still have so much to process about how long this took but thank you for sticking with me while it felt like we were …

On April 6, 2018 Nano Lopez was taken from us by an intoxicated driver who was driving at high speed. Nano was 19 years old. He was the oldest son, a brother, a friend, a classmate, a boyfriend, a soccer player, a coach, and an amazing human being. Recently Terry Nelson, who was 59 years old, was released because she “didn’t have any charges”. The police department also never turned in a full report. All his family asks is for justice. We can’t let this keep happening. It’s not fair. Our boy deserves better. Please help us!

I just looked at the screen and saw 500 signatures which honestly feels like a blur because I never thought so many people would care about Nano's story. It is just so much to take in right now (I keep reading the names over and over) but seeing this support really keeps the fight going even when the silence from the police department feels so loud and heavy.

I spent a long time staring at the screen today because the silence from the police department is just so loud and honestly it makes me feel like they think we will just forget about it. People keep sending me messages about how they remember Nano and it guts me but it also keeps me going because none of this should have been allowed to happen in the first place.

Nano was my friend. I was his manager when he worked at pizza hut. He was a great worker and an even better person. I just found out about what happened to him today August 31st. I was at the stop light. I read his memorial cross on the side of the road and my heart just dropped. I couldn't believe what I was reading. The news will sadden my for the rest of my life.

My dad was killed by a drunk driver when I was 2 years old; didn’t even get the chance to know my own father. These situations are absolutely ridiculous and 100% preventable and if there was a harsher punishment maybe it wouldn’t be so common.

No drunk driver should ever be let off the hook. They know that they can hurt themselves or others, it's incredibly selfish and horrifying that anyone thinks they'd be capable of driving knowing they might kill someone. Intoxicated manslaughter is still a crime and should be treated as such.

My mother and sister were killed by a drunk driver. In July of last year and justice was brought to the man who killed them. I’d like nothing more in the world to see the man who ended this young mans life come to justice
