We are petitioning to have the criminal negligence case reopened and investigated fully by unbiased officials. The Hopkins County Grand Jury ruled it as being an unfortunate and tragic accident, and choose not to hold the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet responsible, even though they were aware of the spillage hours prior to the incident and had adequate time to clean the spill up.Our small town is trying to lay blame on an innocent child who is not able to defend herself, rather than take action against KTC due to an age old law protecting state employees of wrong doing when they are guilty of negligence. Kentucky State Police went as far as to refuse to do a scene reconstruction when it became quickly known that a state operated truck is the responsible party that caused the tragic chain of events. A Hopkins County Deputy even began changing his story as time passed. Let's give this child justice and peace!!!!!

I do believe KTC should be held responsible so something like this will not ever happen again. Also disappointed that KSP refused to help in the investigation. The road should have been closed immediately when the oil spill was reported.
a young life was taken way to soon and thus could have been prevented if there was a sign warning of the slick road conditions ahead due to the truck leaking the hydraulic fluid there needs to be a warning system on those trucks that let's the driver know if it is leaking before it's empty
They were aware of this leak before she wrecked it should of been addressed right away but wasn't so yes they are responsible for her accident as well as other people and should be held responsible for this accident and no such law should be in effect to protect them when someone dies from their neglect.
I agree that someone should be held accountable for the neglect of cleaning the spill. If it had been a private company it would have had to clean it up per EPA regulation for a oil spill.
This could have been prevented. They neglected the spill and didn't report it until after the wrecks. Blaming her tires is ludicrous, they were working fine until she hit that oil.
prayers
Petitions won't bring her back. Salt truck is just a working man trying to make roads safe. Whether an equipment malfunction or winter conditions are to blame it was an accident. A terrible accident.

It was not her fault that the KTC did not clean up the spill. No amount of tread would have been able to stop her when the hydraulic fluid leaked. They caused the accident by leaving a dangerous substance on the road in dangerous weather conditions
