The city of Mcfarland wants to condemn and take over the property at 107 Kern Ave in Mcfarland where my father’s tire shop has been in existence for over 20 years. The city wants to replace it with a city parking lot and is only offering my father an unfair monetary market value. My father wants to cooperate with the city but is asking for a fair amount. Mcfarland is a small town and does not have a scarcity of parking. The city is justifying their actions by stating that the city would benefit more from a parking lot. My father’s business is a symbol of hard work and a dream come true, the city benefits more from a thriving business. His business has been drawing people and business into the city, a parking lot will not.
