Mac isn't cursed! Dark streets, traffic, no supervision whatsoever.. Teachers won't accept anything as an excuse despite how horrible traffic gets in the morning, you'll have to serve up to 2 hours of detention after school for being a minute late. This morning, October 26, 2016, we lost another senior in our school (Jose Torres); for those of you who knew him knew that he was a great person and it was truly heartbreaking to hear of his lost. For those who didn't, you didn't have to know him to know that what happened this morning was truly unfair to him as he was simply a student just like everyone else trying to walk to school on time, and ended up losing his life on the road. This is why I'm making this petition. Jose's loss should not be in vain, and to prevent future accidents of our senior class and the rest to come, changes have to be made to increase student's safety. The woman who ran over our classmate claims to be in a rush to drop off her child at the high school.

The system is very unfair and causes accidents like this to happen when there is not enough traffic control. Just last year school started at 7:10 am, and this year we have to be in class by 6:50 am and with the freshmen and sophomore classes growing, it only creates more traffic. It is extremely dark outside and there is no one to take care of the kids crossing the road and walking to school. There is no one handling traffic. We demand to have more lights and supervision. Changes to the school zone safety CAN be made. Let's make a change this year, and help us sign this petition to make justice for our students and not let Jose's loss be in vain.
