The parole board has denied the release of Joshua Horein. I am genuinely stunned by the weight our collective request carried in this process and I am so thankful to every person who helped ensure Amber is not forgotten.

On April 6, 2001, Horein was sentenced to twenty years to life in state prison, and is currently being housed at Fishkill Correctional Facility in Beacon, N.Y. I never imagined this many people would reach out to offer their strength to the Brockway family. This momentum belongs entirely to you because you chose to care about a story that many would prefer to forget.

The death of Amber had a profound effect of our community, from her family, her classmates to their parents, and her murderer deserves to stay locked up as long as possible.

He has no right to a life after he took one! He planned and followed through with it. That’s not an accident! That’s a brutal murder for no reason! Keep him locked up!

I lost a best friend, her mother and lost their daughter, her grandparents lost a granddaughter, on and on... Why should he be given another chance at life, when she barely got to live her???? If you can't get an eye for an eye, then at least keep him locked up so that he can't repeat his crime!!! Keep him behind bars

I was just a few grades under Amber in school and the pain of this just radiated throughout our small community. This family and town have suffered enough. Please leave him behind bars where he belongs .

Any male -regardless of age- who feels so entitled to sexual gratification from a female that he can kill her, ruin her family, and destroy an entire community's sense of safety just because she said no deserves to rot behind bars for life. Enough is enough.

Murderer needs to stay for his entire prison sentence.
