Dear 1199SEIU Executive Board:
As members of 1199SEIU, we ask that you support and endorse the candidacy of Dr. Jon Santiago for State Representative of the 9th Suffolk District. Dr. Santiago is an emergency medicine doctor at Boston Medical Center and we have had the pleasure of working with him over the past 4 years. We are impressed by his commitment to serving poor and working-class communities, many of which are residents of the 9th Suffolk District which includes Boston Medical Center. He understands and is ready to provide much needed leadership on the opioid epidemic, address issues of health and wealth inequality, and will be strong advocate for labor issues. He is also a union member of CIR/SEIU and we believe that our union should support union-affiliated labor candidates, especially candidates from SEIU.
While we respect the current state representative and his 18 terms in office, we feel that it is incumbent that 1199SEIU endorse a candidate who is ready to lead on the most important issues of the day. Dr. Santiago has devoted his life to public service and will continue to be a vocal supporter on the issues that 1199SEIU cares most about. Jon would be excellent as a legislator and would be an important asset for healthcare
we definitely need some new blood in office. I work with Dr. Santiago, he is highly qualified & motivated to make changes for the better, especially in health care policy, which is of ever growing concern in the Commonwealth and in the nation at large.
I highly recommend Dr. Santiago for State Representative. I've been working with him for several years at BMC. He is a strong clinician as well as a great advocate for our patient population.
Dr. Santiago is a wonderful Doctor, we at BMC is very impressed by him he has lot of courage and the charisma he brings with him each day would be welcomed by me as my state representative, please elect Dr.Santiago to represent us

Jon is the real deal and works super hard at BMC. We need new energy at the state house and he has my vote for sure.
