the playground equipment is finally going in. it took way too long but the city is actually doing it so we can finally get the kids back out there to play. thanks for sticking with me while we pushed to get this lot finished.
In March 2011, the Hoboken City Council unanimously approved and the Mayor signed an ordinance appropriating $1.6 million and bonding a further $1.52 million to improve several parks throughout the city, including the remediation and the purchase and installation of new playground equipment for Jefferson Park, located at 123 Jefferson Street, adjacent to the Boys & Girls Club and HoLa, Hoboken Dual Language Charter School.
The old playground equipment and pavement of Jefferson Park were removed this summer and environmental remediation completed. But now, there is only an empty sand lot, broken gate and fencing. The children of the Boys & Girls Club, HoLa, and the surrounding neighborhoods sorely need the installation of new playground equipment on Jefferson Park to be completed!
We gratefully thank the Mayor and City Council for funding of Jefferson Park. We now respectfully and urgently call on you to see to it that the installation of the new playground equipment at Jefferson Park is completed this fall.
WHAT IS THE HOLD UP?? They tore it up months ago and just left it. Our tax dollars paid for this fix it NOW.

The students at HoLa really need a place to play. It is dangerous having them just running on the sidewalk because there is no park.

Seriously Hoboken? You have the money set aside so just finish the job. Stop ignoring the neighborhood.

Its so sad seeing the gates locked and nothing inside. The boys and girls club kids deserve this equipment.
