Federal legislation mandating felony charges for animal abuse has officially been signed into law. We have reached our objective and will now focus on monitoring state-level implementation to ensure strict enforcement of these new standards.
Did you know in 19 states animal abuse is not a crime (although individual towns within the state may have ordinances on the books)? Did you also know that there is a proven correlation between those who abuse helpless animals and those who abuse helpless children, spouses and others. It is the desire of the undersigned that the abuse problem be addressed at its core. That being the case, we urge the United States Congress to pass and the President to sign Legislation making animal abuse a felony, mandating jail time.
I am currently compiling the supporting data and legal precedents required to formalize our proposal for federal intervention. My focus has shifted toward drafting a formal briefing document to send directly to key members of the Judiciary Committee. We are waiting on confirmation for a preliminary meeting with legislative staff to discuss the inclusion of mandatory sentencing guidelines.

Would you like someone you love to be hurt like this? Animals have feelings the same as humans do.

Please pass the word about this petition. We will NOT be able to get it before congress if we cannot show strong grass roots support. Share the link. Please tell your friends they do not need to donate (in fact, we prefer they not) and they can use [email protected] as their email address. Must sign both first/last names and allow the name to be shown to be effective. Thank you.
