With Indiana Wesleyan University's recent announcement to induct actor Kirk Cameron into their hall of "World Changers" on April 11, 2012, the university president and board of directors cheapen the legacy of the university and disappoint a not insignificant number of alumni and supporters. Cameron is not representative of the university's goals in higher education, and inauspiciously casts a pall over IWU's hard-earned reputation as a serious liberal arts university. Though other inductees have likewise been suspect, Cameron's inclusion without academic merit (and with questionable intellectual and ideological underpinnings) is by far the worst choice for this honor by the collective leadership of Indiana Wesleyan University. This decision is not something that the alumni of IWU nor it's supporters wish to see come to pass. As a precursor to an even greater tide of disapproval, we, the alumni and supporters of Indiana Wesleyan University sign this petition in solidarity, respectfully pleading that the university president and board of directors reconsider, and ultimately rescind their conferring of this recognition upon Kirk Cameron.
