Veterans of Summit and Medina county are forced to seek long term care options outside of the county in which they reside, because the Veterans Administration has failed to address the gaps in service areas.
To better explain this I will provide an example: If a Veteran chooses to reside at a non-VA contracted facility, note there are not any VA contracted facilities in Medina or Summit counties, they will have to move to Wayne, Stark, Portage, or Cuyahoga county in order to have the VA cover the Veterans long term care expenses.
The goal of this petition is to encourage the Veterans Administration to consider Windsong Care Center for a VA contract as it is located in Montrose, Fairlawn Ohio.
This location is central and conveniently located off I-77 and off of Route 18.
Windsong Care Center also has developed a Veterans Initiative Program with services such as: VA Benefits Assistance, Veteran Volunteer Program that partners our heroes with Veterans from the community, staff education on the psychosocial needs for aging Veterans, community education, and ceremonial events and fairwells for our Veteran Residents. Windsong also has a renovated 15 room and 20 bed Heroes Hall, boasting a Library and Family overnight room for families experiencing hospice or other circumstances.
This program and Hall was established by a 10 year Marine Corp Veteran, with the future of Veterans in mind.

We have patients that are veterans that don't use their respite because the VA facility is too far. Please do this!!
They worked so hard on this wing to honor Veterans. Not because they wanted a contract but because our Veterans deserve it! It would be amazing if they could help more by having this contract!
Our vets need choices! They chose to stand for us and we limit their care options....
I did not know this. I live in Medina county and had no idea!! Time to step up and help our veterans!!
To provide care and services to our veterans is an indicator of a grateful nation. Having a facility that allows veterans to remain in established home is reasonable and respectful. I am asking that these additional services become part of this facility's purpose.
Veterans should have top notch health care like every other government worker has.
We need a VA affiliated facility in summit county.
